I just ran over a duck in my car!?

It was around 12.10 at night coming near my road and I didn't see them (two of them) until they were right in front of my head lights just sitting there in the middle of the road I'd obviously slowed right down but dident have time to stop until it was to late but I swerved and didn't hit them with the wheels but one of them did hit the under Neath of my car I new it was the two ducks as soon as It happen because five minutes away you often see them on this old couples lawn were they leave a bowl of water and bread for them ,i felt so ashamed that I couldn't stop to see if it was dead so I carried on home thinking it would be better to leave them to it in peace and not startle them further ,wtf were they doing in the middle of the road! Now I can't sleep it's so sad thinking they were just sitting there in the moonlight probably male and female ,I think I'm going to hell!
