I got my tongue pireced about a month ago? hellppp?

So I've had my tongue pireced for about a month now, I'm still sore I have dead skin under neath my tongue its hard and its soree!! I feel as if my tip of my tongue is numb, like when u eat something and it burns your tongue, idk why it still hurts, my friend told me to change to a shorter bar so I did but it still is really sore! What's wrong should I just take it out?
